Deep Bay Marine Field Station – The Deep Bay Marine Field Station supports both pure and applied coastal and marine research activities related to: sustainable shellfish aquaculture development; preservation of coastal ecosystems; and inter-disciplinary projects involving local communities. Come visit the Deep Bay Marine Field Station! This unique green research facility has been designed to host a wide variety of public activities including guided and self-guided tours, school groups, meetings, conferences and small or large catered events.
Sea Lions – Several times a year Steller and California Sea Lions congregate on the float at Fanny Bay wharf just a few kilometres up the shore. Bring your camera and get up close and personal with these huge mammals.
Whales Killer Whales, also known as orcas, can occasionally be sighted from most coastal regions on Vancouver Island. The peak season for viewing is June to October, and tours can be arranged from many expert charter companies, located primarily between Campbell River and Port McNeil, further up-Island. Campbell River Wale Watching Gray Whales or 'Eschirchtius Robustus' can be observed from the West coast of the island, between Tofino and Uclulet.
Ocean Exploring Diving and Snorkeling. From early June until late October, you can embark on tours to swim and dive among seals and salmon.
